What a joyful day! Happy Easter my dear girl!

JOY - A source or cause of keen pleasure or delight; something exceptionally festive or satisfying. [Joy week starts here. Click here for this week's Bliss Initiatives]

First things first. For my Christian friends I believe that would be Happy Easter! This is one of the holiest and special days on the calendar so I sincerely wish you all the blessings and happiness of the season.

For me however, first things first means Happy Happy birthday to my dear and delightful "I'm a big girl now!" three year old muffin! "The girl" as we affectionately have called her since before she was born came into the world with spunk and speed (only four hours of labor unexpectedly early) foreshadowing her approach to life even from the beginning. Some of you may not know that I had her when I was 44 years old, long after many would consider it prudent to become a mother and I had personally figured that parenthood was likely out this time around for me. How thrilling to find I was wrong when we conceived her on our first try!

The entire experience has been miraculous and I am continuously blown away by the depth of emotion and delight having this little person in my life gives me. I shared earlier in the week that aspects of Joy are now possible because of her very existence. You read about it and hear about  it but it really isn't fully graspable until you become a parent. The love, concern and wonder of each day, each developmental milestone is all consuming and I feel honored and blessed by every minute, even the defiant,, shrieky, or obstinate ones!

My Jessie Girl

So happy happy day my beautiful girl! Thank you for all you teach me and all love you give me everyday. I too love you "very so much!" and today when you "Wish for cake" (something she likes to do regularly and has been doing since blowing out her candles last year) there will be real cake, and jelly beans too!

What a wonderful close to Joy week!

In the world of scoring this week I will give myself a 6 out of 10. I didn't come close to doing all of my initiatives but I did make a solid effort. Knowing that Jessie's birthday was this week gave the entire week a special glow that I'm expecting will continue for quite a while, for this reason I will give myself 6 bliss boosts!

Once again Happy Easter everyone! I'm off to wish for some cake!

Next Post: An orderly beginning!

  1. Happy birthday to your little sweetie - she's so cute!!! It is indeed a JOYFUL celebration. :) Theresa

  2. Yay for you! She is totally darling! 4 hours of labor - impressive! Hope you had a wonderful day with her yesterday.

  3. Happy Birthday to your darling girl AND Happy Easter to your entire family!!!

  4. Hope she had a wonderful birthday and a Happy Easter :)

  5. Happy Birthday to your Little Person! She'll always be your Little Person no matter what her age or experience in life! I think the Moms who appreciate their children are the priveledged ones as so many never take the time to, or are so tangled in their own life problems. I've tried over the years to never take my children for granted and to appreciate each of them for what they are and where they're at. Difficult when they are driving you round the twist but still...

  6. What a DARLING! I never got around to replying to you, so OH YES I cannot believe we don't live closer!! Ah, but we found one another through the lovely blog world for a reason...our journey ain't over yet. :)

I hope that Jessie had a WONDERFUL birthday (Sorry this is so late)...and so so true - what better way is there to celebrate JOY?! :)

  7. I love it all!! Your blog, your attitude, your amazing outlook on life. I love that Joy feel on your daughters bday. my son is 5 and has brought me more joy and love than I ever knew was possible. oh and thank you for visiting me on my sits day
