Focusing on Serenity did bring me several serene moments. If I hadn't had serenity week I might have had those moments anyway but I likely would not have noticed them. As I foretold earlier in the week, I did not accomplish what I set out to do this week. I need to give myself a 2 out of 10 for my score this week but I do not feel that is so terrible. Awareness is a first step and who knows with the first step taken I may rocket to a 6 or a 7 next time!
I finally started "Understanding Serenity" by Jane Nelsen (also author of Positive Discipline, and has a very informative parenting site here) and am about 25% done with it. I am a very quick reader and I am really enjoying it, so will likely finish it sometime tomorrow. It isn't telling me anything I didn't already believe about how thoughts become one's reality but I am expecting some great information about getting myself back on track when I negative emotions are trying to take over. I'll give you a more complete review sometime next week.
I'll end the week with a compelling photo.

My 13 bliss virtues: joy, order, creativity, passion, whimsy, serenity, inquiry, community, romance, gratitude, moxie, humility, surprise
I guess this is why it's nice to cycle through your habits over the course of a year - who knows what craziness a week may hold, or how receptive you'll be to a particular change of pace. This experiment is really interesting to watch from afar!
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy! You are on to exactly why I'm doing each virtue 4 times in a year! Thanks for watching!
