I'm all amped up! It is two o'clack in the morning and I am sitting here writing in my blog. My Sweetie and I were given the rare gift of our girl going to sleep a little early so we decided to watch a couple of movies that are not particularly "Girl Friendly" as we like to call it. We watched the new Star Trek Movie followed by the Dark Knight. My sweetie fell immediately asleep as soon as the last movie was over but after all that adrenaline I'm pretty wired!
Order week has been a pretty great success over here but I may surprise you when I award myself a 7 out 10 for my weekly score and only 2 Bliss Boosts. Yes I did some great clean up but now that the frenzy is over I can feel the pull toward my slovenly ways... Katina was right when she said Order wasn't an occasion! While I do think I had a great orderly occasion it is not a way of life for me yet. Earlier today I send Sweetie and The Girl out to a park so I could clean up a bit (it is truly amazing the havoc one little three year old can reek!) and I noticed that on several occasions I said "that's good enough" to my self.
It was good enough to wipe down the stove but not to move the toaster and coffe maker to clean under them. It was good enough to toss all the toys in the bin but not to vacuum under the couch. It was good enough to wipe down the couch but not to vacuum under the cushions (even when I know they could use it.) You see I was interested in the appearance of clean, not the reality of clean. I am not interested in having my life be about cleaning but I can see there is further in this Order game for me to go!
I was amazed by the amount of lightness cleaning my garage and car gave me. These two things were done all the way right and I can feel the difference versus the sloppy kitchen job. The crumbs under the toaster are mocking me. Nothing in my car sneers at me. On the contrary, my car is now a place of Bliss. Eccentric side note - I name my cars. I've had one named Gilgamesh (a green Pathfinder) and another named Chakotay (A steel grey Maxima) and the one I've been driving for the past 9 years is Ananda (a cherry red Elantra hatchback.)Ananda is Bliss in Sanscrit . She is returned to her verity since her detailing.
I want to have all areas of my life feel the same as Ananda does right now. I realize that crumbs will fall and drinks will spill but when I have Order established as a way of life, it will be the mess that is the occurrence and I can live in the ongoing Bliss of Order. Yep a 7 may even be too high. Let's call it a six and I'll go wipe up some crumbs now!
Any crumbs mocking you too?

Next Post: Creativity week gets started!
My 13 bliss virtues are
joy, order, creativity, passion, whimsy, serenity, inquiry, community,
romance, gratitude, moxie, humility, and surprise.
This week we are exploring Order.
Next week is all about Passion.
Thank you for visiting U8MyCrayons. I love the blog, and actually have a similar set-up on an online community I started last year. We've been simplifying our lives since Dec. and the little things (like having a tidy garage) do make a huge difference in everyday life. It's the difference between staying afloat between the bliss and just fla out giving up on life's clutter. We post daily accountability on my group and I have received a lot of joy from helping others simplify their lives too. I look forward to seeing what you are working on each week. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThe crumbs and the dust bunnies are ganging up on me and throwing a party ... :(
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Every day. Every place. Now, though, you've inspired me to clean my car tomorrow. Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteCrumbs are ALWAYS mocking me! LOL Although I did manage to get everything done I wanted to today...we shall see what the next day brings. ;) Theresa
