Greetings fellow bliss adventurers! This week I am getting ready to shake things up. Last surprise week was fun but I can't really say anything really unexpected happened. Particularly for you dear readers of my blog. This week I hope to change that. First of all there will be FABULOUS PRIZES! This is not a giveaway blog by any means but this week all comments, links, tweets, follows and fans could net you a prize... I'm still working the details out and will let you know what you can actually win, and the requirements for being eligible a bit later in the week. A little hint... the more you comment and the more surprising you are the better your chance is to win!!!
The second big thing is I am going to go off road and share somethings that are not typical for my little corner of the blogosphere. I love my bliss game but after shaking things up a bit with politics and religion, I realize I might have some other things more personal to share. Stay tuned.
As I think you know by now, my 12 month game is based loosely on Ben Franklin's weekly focus on each of his 13 virtues. I have chosen virtues that I believe will encourage Everyday Bliss. In addition to focusing on my virtues, I will be coming up with "Bliss Initiatives" (color coded in purple for quick identification!) which are concrete things that you too can try, if you want to play along with me. However, because as Earl Nightingale says, "you become what you think about," even if you only follow along, and never take on any of the bliss initiatives, I expect some positive results. Surprise! We will be fostering SURPRISE in some of the same ways as last time!
- Use "bad" surprises as a prompt for creativity. Look for the silver lining in the things that you don't like and be surprised by your ability to adapt!
- Create fun surprises for my family and friends. This is a no-brainer but still it is a perfect expression for this week's virtue. I will endeavor to up the ante and do some VERY surprising things... I'll keep you posted on this one!
- Look for small surprises. I intend to be delighted by sunsets and sunrises. Find enjoyment from a wild bird who happens to pause on my lawn. Notice when my family tells me that they love me or when Rob's kisses or hugs linger a bit longer then usual. If you are playing along with me, see what you can allow yourself to be surprised and inspired about!
- Surprise blog readers. Obviously this is one for bloggers. If you are not a blogger you can try this by engaging in surprising conversations with your co-workers or friends. Go ahead and do something surprising on your blog. Comment on something you wouldn't normally say anything about, tell us something about your self which you think might shock us, write something completely off topic... generally shake things up!

ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and would love to play along :)
A few years back, I taught Sunday school and I got a "surprise" one sunday as the teacher who was suppose to take over never showed up. So I had to wing something and I asked the children (3-6 year olds) if they knew what a surprise was. Little Travis looked at me and said, "A surprise is a GIFT God gives you"!
I have never looked a an 'unexpected' event in the same way since! Everyday there are gifts right in front of us if we will look for them :)
Looking forward to seeing what you have planned!
Thanks for playing Tina... and no worries about the delete. I do it sometimes too!
ReplyDeleteWell this post was just a big ol box of intrigue all wrapped up in a ribbon, wasn't it? Surprises are wonderful. Imagine life without them. Blecchy blecchy boring patooie!
ReplyDeleteSurprises . . .A wonderful topic! As an artist, I love surprises, they always seem to inspire me!
