What a terrific week! Of course starting out in the land of mouse is always a good start to any week! Whimsy is a delightful topic. Although one can say "I know it when I see it" whimsy defies strict definition. I have a friend who described, after seeing them again after a long Southern California absence, palm trees as "pure whimsy." Personally I have never liked palm trees all that much. Being a northeast gal they hardly count as trees for me. Give me an oak or elm anytime! Ever since reading Sheila's "pure whimsy" statement however I have been giving them further consideration. I do think they belong on Hawaiian beaches and their ridiculous bare trunks and tiny(in comparison) plumes do bend in unexpected ways on windy days. They can seem almost Seussical and if that isn't a definition of whimsy then certainly I don't know what whimsy is!
All in all I will give myself a 7 out of 10 for the week. I certainly immersed myself in whimsy although I didn't truly integrate very much into my "regular" daily life. Noticing that my daughter is really my best source of inspiration on the topic will do the most in terms of making whimsy a daily delight. In terms of bliss boosts, the number I assign to the over all increase bliss this week's investigation encouraged, I gave myself a three. Whimsy definitely increases one's experience of Bliss and even without fully integrating the virtue my overall bliss is increased by the memories created. All in all a good week!
While doing my whimsical flash inspiration searches this week I came across this fun car, aptly named Whimsy and I thought to feature her would be a fitting conclusion to any Whimsy Week!

I love that car!
ReplyDeleteWhimsy is such a great feeling!
Tee hee - love it! Great car (seriously, how could you be in a bad mood driving that thing) and not bad for a return-from-vacation week. Mickey & friends may be a whimsical way to start, but the return to non-Disney is hard for anyone! :)
ReplyDeleteChildren definitely know the definition of whimsy and they live it every day. For those of us without children, it is imperative to instill that sort of blissful whimsy into our everyday lives! Thank you again for letting me share such an important bliss virtue with you. :) Theresa
