Time for your Whimsy Check up!!

WHIMSY - extravagant, fanciful, or excessively playful expression; an odd or fanciful notion. [Whimsy week begins here. Read this delightful guest post or click here for some Bliss Initiatives to increase your experience of Whimsy]

Whimsy Flying East by Peggy King

OK. We've been talking about Whimsy all week.  On Monday I kicked off the week with some Initiatives to get the Whimsy flowing. Then on Tuesday, Theresa followed with her fabulous guest post which offered even more incredible ideas for adding whimsy to your days. So the question now is, how are YOU doing? Feeling more whimsical? Have you wished on a dandelion seed? Followed a butterfly through a meadow? Conducted you own Flash Inspiration search?

There are hundreds of was to inject Whimsy into one's life but I think the most important is an attitude shift. As I shared yesterday,  my three year old accomplishes it ALL THE TIME. She looks at everything around her in a unique and whimsical way. As we grow up we teach ourselves to get serious and to look at the world in a rational and "adult" way. Certainly this is important as we navigate our daily lives but what could be the difference if you also allowed the whimsy to shine its happy point of view equally regularly?

Perhaps a whimsical gift could repair a friendship damaged by pride. A whimsical approach could be just the turn a somber business meeting needs. A whimsical thought might bring a smile in an otherwise sad day. I think it is time to take Whimsy out of the closet. Consider whimsy as a tool for joy and happiness that can be employed at any turn.

Have you considered making WHIMSY an EVERYDAY addition to your days? If so what magic has this released in your life? When has WHIMSY helped you? What is your personal favorite example of Whimsy? What whimsical paths have you traveled? What whimsical notions are you willing to share?

  2. Theresa, I entirely forgot it was May Day until about 5:00 my time! We were on a family hike for the day... lady bugs, lizards and lots of birds by picturesque waterfalls. Whimsical AND a great prelude to next week's Serenity study!!!
